The colourful city of Lisbon is the perfect getaway for a weekend trip with your beloved ones. The vibrant destination is currently on top of every travellers bucket list – for a good reason. Lisbon convinces with tradition, mixed with a up and rising scene. If you are looking for a location for a weekend t[rave]l in September, here are the best spots and parties.

September is a great month for a trip to Lisbon. Why? Temperatures are around 25 degrees celsius and the main holiday season is over, so it’s easier to get a table at the best food spots and the city is not as crowded as it is during June, July and August. On top of that, many festivals and events are waiting for you in September.

Tip: Should you have more days to spend in Lisbon and want to know more about the local subculture, have a look at this t[rave]l Guide including the interview with local electronic music pioneer and musical director of Lux Fragil, Rui Vargas:

The Taberna is located right in front of the building, that houses more food spots of the famous chef. Ground Burger is the best burger place in Lisbon and the ideal food spot before visiting a festival. Authentic brioche bread and moist patties are accompanied by a global craft beer selection. You’ll find Ground Burger either at Time Out Market or at Av. António Augusto de Aguiar.

An Extraordinary Concept for Gourmets in Lisbon

If you want to try something new that surprises your palate and that you probably didn’t taste before: try out 100 Maneiras in Bairro Alto. The 17 courses tasting menu is inspired by the Bosnian roots of chef and creator Ljubomir Stanisic, as well as the Portuguese cuisine. 100 Maneiras is not only a restaurant, but a concept with a story that you feel with every bite and in every of the three different room settings.

Eat like a Local in Lisbon

The concept of Local is simple: three chefs, 18 sqm, one table, ten chairs. It’s probably this reduction to the basics combined with the intimate atmosphere that make this dinner spot a real experience. As soon as you enter the 18 sqm room that houses the kitchen and a table with ten seats, you feel like at a friends place. Friends with amazing cooking skills. The menu is regional, saisonal and regularly changing. The highlight is the local dessert, made with banana, salted caramel, peanuts and Azorean cheese.
